Here's a spot to talk about wild canines other than wolves. My favorite of these are foxes, jackals and African wild dogs.

Ah, the less-popular canines.... I agree that those three canines are great. Wikipedia has some good information on another less-known canine, the Maned Wolf. I've been doing some research on them for a school project and think that they're absolutely amazing. I've wanted to write something about them for a while now, but most of my plots involve wolf packs, and Maned wolves don't live in packs. x_x

Maned wolves are cool. I sometimes wish they would put out a TV documentary on them or something.
As for the others I mentioned, I've been studying jackals a lot lately.

Agreed with you there.
Jackals seem pretty cool. They're sorta like skinny, desert-dwelling coyotes, right? I don't really know much about any species besides the Maned Wolf or typical wolf.

Yeah, they are. Up until very recently in the Middle East, the howling of jackals was a common nighttime sound.

That might explain a lot; I live in New England, and if I hear any howling at night it's because of coyotes.

Cool.
As for African wild dogs, I found myself liking their markings.

I love foxes, Maned wolves, and African wild dogs, plus many others. But those three are my favorites, not counting an actual wolf. I have to agree with Jafar -- I love African wild dogs' markings. C: I love the way foxes and Maned wolves look, as well. I'm all about appearance. Cx

African Wild Dogs are pretty cool. I agree that their markings are awesome, but they're impossible to draw well in 10 minutes. XP

You can draw? I can attempt to -- I have a character that is freakishly thin and has a really bushy tail. Her head is invisible, though, because I can't draw those...to be honest, I think my little nameless character is the best thing I have ever drawn. Anyways, to stay on topic, coyotes are cool. I live in New England, too, but I never hear their howls. The only coyote I've seen was a dead one on the side of the road. XD

Eh, I'd like to say I can. I'm a billion times better in real life than I am online, though. I couldn't draw a decent human face if my life depended on it, though. XD
Well. Isn't that lovely?
